Controller Continuity is a feature available on Red-series controllers that allows a local version of the Person database, rules, and schedules to be stored on the Controller. This allows the Doors/Devices connected to a Red-series controller to allow access for a configured time period when disconnected from the Cloud Node, before switching to Ecard operation. This allows you to retain flexibility in needing to immediately have a technician go on site to resolve an issue. Also, if the cause of the communication disruption is known and accessible, the Controller can remain functional while the cause is resolved.
Please note that while operating in Controller Continuity mode, the following restrictions will occur:
- Elevator access on the controller will not function
- You will be unable to activate doors/devices connected to the Controller from inside the ProdataKey app. Bluetooth and hard credential access is unaffected.
- Any Events that occurred on the Controller while in Controller Continuity mode will not be available in the Reports dashboard until the Controller reconnects and synchronizes data with the Cloud Node.
- Any emails from Event rules on the Controller that occur while in Controller Continuity mode will not be processed until the Controller connects to the Cloud. Node.
In addition, when the Controller is unable to validate the current time during Continuity Mode, you can configure how access to the site is granted; allowing only those People with unrestricted access to use the attached Doors/Devices, allow anyone with access to the Door/Device to access it regardless of configured schedule, or simply revert to Ecard mode immediately.
Also in the Controllers and Hubs view on the States dashboard, you are able to see the model, firmware revision, and the status of the access database synchronization for each Controller.
