Setting up a Request-to-Exit (REX) device with a Cloud Node system is a straightforward process.
Once the REX hardware is installed where required and power for the REX hardware, either from the Controller or an external power supply, has been connected, the next step is to connect the outputs to the Controller inputs.
- Connect a wire to the C (Common) terminal on the REX hardware
- Connect the other end of the wire above to the negative (-) terminal on the AB- block on the Controller port
- Connect a second wire to either the NC (Normally Closed) or NO (Normally Open) terminal on the REX hardware. It is recommended to confirm the state of the relay between C and the second chosen terminal, as this will affect the function of the REX event.
- Connect the other end of the second wire to the B input on the AB- block on the Controller port.
Once the REX hardware is connected to the Controller, the next step is to ensure that the Rex input for the Controller port is enabled. To confirm this, first tap/click the Configuration Icon, then tap/click the Device to which the REX was connected to. Inside the Device details, ensure that in the 'Inputs section, 'B' REX is enabled. This is shown below.
After confirming this, tap/click the PDK logo in the upper left corner of the page to return to the Cloud Node dashboard. Next, tap/click 'System Events', enter a descriptive name, choose a Schedule, and in the Action section, select the following items:
- Trigger - On Rex Open if the Rex relay is open by default or On Rex Close if the Rex relay is closed by default.
- Action - Open/Close
Then select the Source Devices which is where the REX wiring is connected.
Then select Target Devices which is the Device that will be activated/unlocked when the Rex is triggered. If the Target Devices is the same Devices as the Source Devices, place a checkmark in the 'Same as Source Devices' checkbox.
Then set the Dwell time, which is the time the Device or Devices will remain activated/unlocked.
Then click Save in the upper right corner. It is recommended to test the REX hardware at this point to confirm it is working properly.
