Wiring - How to wire a Maglock

One of the most common types of door control hardware is a maglock. This article will detail how to correctly wire a Maglock and REX device to a PDK Red-series controller.

(A) Maglock: When installing a maglock, it is required to install an electronic REX (request to exit) device as well as a mechanical button at the same door (in case of electrical failure) for free egress. Run 18/2 wire connections from the maglock to the door controller.

(B) REX/Exit Device: Mounted the REX device in the desired location using 18/5 wire running from the REX to the controller. Wire the REX to the controller and maglock.

(C) BUS Jumper:  Place a jumper between the central pin and the required positive (+) or negative (-) pin. This will provide voltage out of the Normally Closed (NC) terminal.
