There are times where resetting a ProdataKey Red-series High Security Reader can be required.
Older Red Readers:
- First, dismount the Red-series reader from the mounting location and rotate the reader 45 degrees. This will cause the reader to go into tamper mode.
- Second, power-cycle (pull the reader connector and then re-connect the connector).
- Third, return the reader to the original position.
Newer Red readers:
- Hold a Card credential to the reader
- Power-cycle the Reader
- Continue holding the card to the reader, when the Reader LED changes to pink, continue holding the card to the reader for 10 seconds and then remove the card.
- The reader will beep, indicating the wiring mode the reader is in.
The reader will beep multiple times to report the state the reader is in.
For older Red readers, if the reader beeps twice, the reader is in Wiegand Mode; if the reader beeps four times, the reader is in OSDP mode.
For newer Red readers, after resetting (blue LED state) the reader will be in auto-detect mode.
