When using a touch io reader, the reader may display unexpected behaviors if the controller that the reader is attached to when charging an extremely low battery. The battery-charging circuit draws enough power that the touch io can experience glitches if the controller is also powering up a strike or maglock at the same time. This is due to the reader drawing significantly more amperage than other readers (Touch io readers draw 300+ ma compared to other readers that use approximately 30ma) and cause the board to brown-out.
IMPORTANT: We recommend pre-charging your controller's backup battery prior to connecting the touch io reader. The touch io may not work properly when the backup battery is charging with an extremely low battery.
