FAQ: Correctly Powering 24 VDC Hardware from an Eight io+

To correctly power 24 volt DC hardware devices from an Eight io+ controller, it is necessary to wire the positive (+) from the power supply and the positive wire from the locking device together.

Next, break the negative (-) connection through either the NC (Normally Closed) or NO (Normally Open) relay, and C (Common). (Breaking the negative connection or leg means to run it through the relay and remove the jumpers from the buss for that relay.)
