When installing a Cloud Node system with WiMac devices, there are a number of environmental and positioning conditions that need to be considered before installation to ensure the best signal strength for the system.
Ways to improve signal strength
Use a Range Test Kit - The most efficient method to determine signal strength is using the Range Test Kit.
Antenna Height - The placement of the controller and associated antenna can have a significant impact on the resultant signal strength.
Avoid Competing Wireless Signals - Avoid placing competing 802.11 and 802.15 devices near each WiMac controller or in the radio communication path between WiMac devices.
Avoid Environmental Interference - Avoid communications paths between WiMac devices that pass through environmental or structural interference sources, such as elevators, windows with reflective film, trees with foliage, or dense copper wiring/pipes for example.
Be aware of the average signal range - Inside of a building with no undue interference, the communication range is between 200 and 300 feet.
