Red-series Controllers have a soft reset function that allows an Integrator an additional step in regaining access to an unresponsive Controller before requiring an RMA in certain cases. We recommend only performing this process under the guidance of tech support. There are two types of reset: “soft” and “hard”.
Soft Reset - A Soft Reset will erase any configuration information saved to the Controller by the Integrator. This includes Network Addresses, Ecard credentials, and any Connection Locking set up on the Controller. A Soft Reset should only be performed when directed to do so by ProdataKey Support. As this action can result in significant re-programming of the controller, this step should only be used when the controller and firmware have been determined not to be the problem, but instead, the configuration saved on the controller makes the controller unresponsive.
Performing a Soft Reset
To perform a Soft Reset, follow these steps:
-
Disconnect primary and battery power (if present) from the Controller.
-
Place a jumper between the PINs shown in red in the respective model images below.
-
Connect primary power to the Controller. The “Heart” LED will blink rapidly to indicate a pending factory reset.
-
Carefully remove the jumper while the controller is powered on. The board will now perform the factory reset and reboot.
