Anti-passback rules are used to define a specific sequence in which Credentials must be used and are most commonly used for areas with defined exits and entrances. While an Anti-Passback rule is active, the system requires that for every allowed Credential entry by a Person at a designated entry device, there must be a corresponding allowed Credential entry at an exit device before the Person can use their Credential at an entry device without an Anti-Passback Violation occurring.
To create an Anti-Passback rule, tap/click the yellow plus (+) icon next to Rules.
Then tap/click on the Anti-Passback tab.

Entry Devices
At least one door/device must be selected to function as an Entry Device, which will record that the Person has 'entered' and will need to 'exit' at an Exit Device to prevent an Anti-Passback Violation.
To add Devices to the Anti-Passback rule as Entry Devices, tap/click the + next to the section. Then tap/click the checkbox(s) next to the desired Entry Device(s) and tap/click the Select button to add the Entry Devices to the rule.
Exit Devices
At least one door/device must be selected to function as an Exit Device, which will record that the Person has 'exited' and that their credential can be scanned at an Entry Device without causing an Anti-Passback Violation.
To add Devices to the Anti-Passback rule as Exit Devices, tap/click the yellow plus (+) next to the section. Then tap/click the checkbox(s) next to the desired Exit Device(s) and tap/click the Add button to add the Exit Devices to the rule.
If an attempt to select an Entry Device as an Exit Device is made, a message regarding this issue will be displayed beneath the listed Entry and Exit devices and the Anti-Passback rule can not be saved.
Re-entry
The Re-Entry option specifies the behavior when an Anti-Passback rule violation occurs
Deny - When set to Deny, the Anti-Passback rule will consider any Credential entry by the violating Credential as occurring during a "Deny Explicit" state on the selected Entry Devices. This will prevent the violating Credential from being allowed access at any Entry Device listed in the rule, in addition to generating an Anti-Passback Violation event.
Allow - When set to Allow, the Anti-Passback rule will allow access to the listed Entry Devices, but an Anti-Passback Violation event will be generated.
Violation Expiration
The Violation Expiration option specifies for how long an Anti-Passback rule violation will persist for a violating Credential.
Never - Anti-passback restrictions generated by this rule will remain active for the person until a Credential for that Person is used on an Exit Device or the restriction for the Person is cleared.
1 Hour - Anti-passback restrictions generated by this rule will remain active for the person until a Credential for that Person is used on an Exit Device, the restriction for the Person is cleared, or one hour passes.
24 Hours - Anti-passback restrictions generated by this rule will remain active for the person until a Credential for that Person is used on an Exit Device, the restriction for the Person is cleared, or twenty-four (24) hours pass.
Custom -Anti-passback restrictions generated by this rule will remain active for the person until a Credential for the Person is used on an Exit Device, the restriction for the Person is cleared, or the configured time passes.
After configuring the Anti-Passback rule, tap/click the Save button to save the rule.
