Anti-Passback Rules define a specific sequence in which Credentials must be used and are most commonly used in areas with defined exits and entrances. While an Anti-Passback rule is active, the system requires that, for every allowed Credential entry by a Person at a designated entry device, there be a corresponding allowed Credential entry at an exit device before the Person can use their Credential at an entry device without an Anti-Passback Violation.
To create an Anti-Passback Rule, select + Add Rules in the Access Rules section of the drawer. This can be done for a Person or a Group.
Select Anti-Passback. By default, the Access tab will be selected.
Schedule - Select this dropdown to choose the Schedule Type: Always, Recurring, or Single Date.
Below is an explanation for each Schedule type and how to configure each option.
Always - The rule will always be processed.
Recurring - The rule will be processed only during the selected time frame each week.
Days - Select the days of the week on which the rule will be processed. By default, Monday-Friday are selected.
Begin - Select the specified time (in 24H format) when the Elevator Rule will begin.
End - Select the specified time (in 24H format) when the Elevator Rule will end.
Single Date - The rule will only be processed for the specified timeframe on a single day.
Date - Select the date when the rule will be processed.
Begin - Select the specified time (in 24H format) when the Elevator Rule will begin.
End - Select the specified time (in 24H format) when the Elevator Rule will end.
Entry Devices - At least one Door or Device must be selected to function as an Entry Device, which will record that the Person has entered and that the Person needs to exit at an Exit Device to prevent an Anti-Passback Violation.
Select the Devices to include as the Entry Device by selecting Edit Devices.
Exit Devices - At least one door or device must be selected to function as an Exit Device, which will record that the Person has 'exited' and that their credential can be scanned at an Entry Device without causing an Anti-Passback Violation.
Select the Devices to include as the Exit Device by selecting Edit Devices.
NOTE: Entry and Exit Devices must be unique Devices.
Re-entry - The Re-Entry option specifies the behavior when an Anti-Passback rule violation occurs
Deny - When set to Deny, the Anti-Passback rule will consider any Credential entry by the violating Credential as occurring during a "Deny Explicit" state on the selected Entry Devices. This will prevent the violating Credential from accessing any Entry Device listed in the rule and will generate an Anti-Passback Violation event.
Allow - When set to Allow, the Anti-Passback rule allows access to the listed Entry Devices, but an Anti-Passback Violation event is generated.
Violation Expiration - The Violation Expiration option specifies the duration for which an Anti-Passback rule violation will persist for a violating Credential. Select this dropdown to choose the Violation Expiration: Never, 1 Hour, 24 Hours, or Custom.
Never - Anti-passback restrictions generated by this rule will remain active for the person until a Credential for that Person is used on an Exit Device or the restriction for the Person is cleared.
1 Hour - Anti-passback restrictions generated by this rule will remain active for the person until a Credential for that Person is used on an Exit Device, the restriction for the Person is cleared, or one hour passes.
24 Hours - Anti-passback restrictions generated by this rule will remain active for the person until a Credential for that Person is used on an Exit Device, the restriction for the Person is cleared, or twenty-four (24) hours pass.
Custom - Anti-passback restrictions generated by this rule will remain active for the Person until a Credential for the Person is used on an Exit Device, the restriction for the Person is cleared, or the configured time has passed.
After configuring the Anti-Passback rule, select the Submit button to save the rule.
