Active Card Formats
Cloud Nodes are able to use one or more Card Formats for your physical credentials.
In the Configuration tab of the Config window, you are able to choose from the available Card Formats on the Cloud Node or create a new Card Format.
Notes:
- Different reader models may send slightly different bit results with the same card.
- Red-series controllers report the bit range properly but older controllers (Single IO and Eight IO) may require a larger bit range compared to Red-series controllers. For example, with 26-bit Wiegand cards being read on a system with only Red-series controllers, a bit range of 26-28 bits can be used, but if there are older controllers installed on the system, a bit range of 26-32 would be required.
- The limit for Active Card Formats is five (5) formats.
- Yellow Formats are Card Formats created by ProdataKey and shipped with the Cloud Node
- Blue Formats are Card Formats added through the "Formatter defined by parameters" option described below.
- Grey Formats are Card Formats uploaded through the "Custom Formatter module" option described below.
Selecting an existing card format
When you click the plus icon next to Active Card Formats, the Activate Card Format window will be shown, allowing you to select an existing format
After selecting the Card Format, click Activate to add the Card Format to the Cloud Node.
Edit Active Card Format
After Activating a Card Format, clicking on the gray pencil icon will display the Card Format and the options for the Card Format.
Description: This is the Name or description of the Card Format.
Advanced
Support on input between (starting) bits and (ending) bits: This allows you to specify which bits in the card data are transferred to the Cloud Node.
Facility Code Processing: This allows you to select between different options regarding using Facility Codes
- Do Not Enforce: The facility code for the card will be ignored.
- Enforce with Filter List: This allows you to specify the allowed facility codes for the entire system.
- Enforce per Credential: This allows you to specify the allowed facility code for each credential added to a person.
Allowed Facility Codes: This option will only be shown when using 'Enforce with Filter List' to explicitly list the allowed facility codes.
Enforce Parity: This will enforce a secondary check of data from the scanned credential to ensure that a misread credential (from a corrupted credential for example) is not interpreted as a valid credential. Please note that a misread credential will still show a valid read at the reader but will be rejected by the ProdataKey system.
Manage Custom Formats
By clicking the Manage Custom Formats button, you are able to add, view format details, or delete User-Defined Card Formats.
Adding a Custom Card Format
Clicking the plus in the bottom right corner of the Card Formats window will open the Add Card Format window.
From this window, you are able to choose between adding the new custom Card Format through parameter configuration (Formatter defined by parameters) or by uploading a Javascript file (Custom Formatter module).
Formatter Defined by Parameters
Selecting the option of Formatter defined by parameters allows you to enter the parameters regarding the card format.
- Num Bits: This is the number of bits in the Card Format. Any bit data in the credential scan above this value will be ignored.
- Cardholder ID Bits: The number of bits for the card number.
- Cardholder Start Address: This is the bit in the credential scan where the card number begins.
- Num Facility Code Bits: This is the number of bits for the Facility Code of the credential. This is an optional field.
- Facility Start Address: This is the bit in the credential scan where the Facility Code begins. This is an optional field.
- Num Bits to Sum For Even Parity: This is the bit length from the credential scan used to determine even parity. This is an optional field. For information regarding parity with credentials, please contact the manufacturer of the credential.
- Even Start Address: This is the bit in the credential scan where the even parity bits begin.
- Num Bits to Start For Odd Parity: This is the bit length from the credential scan used to determine odd parity. This is an optional field. For information regarding parity with credentials, please contact the manufacturer of the credential.
- Odd Start Address: This is the bit in the credential scan where the odd parity bits begin.
Custom Formatter module
Selecting the option for Custom Formatter module allows you to upload a Javascript file with the Card Format defined in it
