High-Performance REX Sensor - Part Number: REXHP
The ProdataKey REXHP High-Performance Request-to-Exit device allows free egress by cutting power to a maglock. The REXHP sensor utilizes a passive infrared sensor with qualified motion analysis. The REXHP features an adjustable time delay and is intended for indoor use only.

Mounting Instructions
|
- Select a mounting location over the center of the door or doors to be covered. The target must walk directly toward the detector.
- Remove the front cover from the detector, then remove the detection module.
- Route the wiring as necessary through the wiring entrance. For surface wiring, use the knock-out wiring exit on the front cover of the REXHP (located on the same end as the wire entrance).
- Mount the base to the mounting surface using the supplied mounting screws.
- Reattach the detection module to the base.
- Aim the detector for the desired coverage and tighten the set screw to hold the detection module.
- Mount the front cover on the detector.
Long & Short Range Adjustment
The REXHP Sensor can be configured to detect individuals at either long-range (multiple steps from the door) or short-range (immediately in front of the door) by adjusting the angle of the detection module. If the building includes a lengthy approach to the exit doorway and no other foot traffic in the detection area, adjust the cover lens for longer range.
Setup and Testing
- After mounting, apply power to the REX.
- Wait at least 3 minutes for the detector to settle.
- Test the REX by walking directly through the coverage area toward the door.
- Aim the detector up or down if necessary to obtain the proper coverage.
- Check that the relay latch time is sufficient. Adjust if necessary.
- After confirming proper operation, tighten the set screw, replace the cover, and test the REX one more time by walking in the detection area to ensure that detection coverage has not changed.
Detection Pattern
The figures below show the standard patterns for a wall-mounted unit. Rotate the lens to adjust the detection range between long-range and short-range areas.
Wiring
Terminal Wiring Diagram
- + (Positive) - Power Connection (12 - 24 VDC/VAC)
- - (Common/Negative) - Power Negative (Ground)
- NO - Normally Open
- NC - Normally Closed
- C - Common
CAUTION: Incorrect wiring will result in product damage.
Wiring a REX with a Mag Lock
- Connect a wire from the Controller Port positive (+) terminal to the Mag Lock positive (+) terminal.
- Connect a wire from the Mag Lock negative (-) terminal to the REX normally closed (NC) terminal.
- Connect a wire from the Controller Relay Port normally closed (NC) terminal to the Rex common (C) terminal.
- Connect a wire from the Controller Input block REX (B) terminal to the REX normally open (NO) terminal

Resettable (Default) |
-
Resettable: The relay activates when the detector first sees motion. Any additional motion restarts the latch timer so the relay deactivates only when the detector no longer sees motion and the latch time has expired.
Hint: This setting works best when bypassing a 24-hour contact. -
Non-resettable: The relay activates when the detector first sees motion. It deactivates when the latch time ends, even if motion is still present. This setting works best when used with an access control system.

Latch Time DIP Switch Settings
DIP switches 4, 5, and 6 set the relay latch time. Latch time is the amount of time the relay remains active after the REX first detects motion. Latch time is adjustable from 0.5 seconds to 64 seconds.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Issue | Cause | Remedy |
Unit does not power up | No or low input power. Input power polarity reversed. |
Apply proper input voltage. Correct the polarity of the wiring. |
Alarm LED does not light | LED DIP switch is set to LED OFF. Incorrect sensor mounting height. | Set LED DIP switch to LED ENABLE Increase/decrease the mounting height. |
LED indicates light, no signal output | Incorrect wiring at output terminal Lightning damage. | Correct the wiring fault. Replace the sensor. |
Unit continues to operate after the input power has been disconnected. | The wire to the “V-” (Ground) power input was disconnected. The “V+” is still connected. | Disconnect the wire from the “V+” power input. |
