Groups and Group Rules provide the ability to easily manage access control rules for multiple People on a Cloud Node system or Partition.
By adding People to a Group on the Cloud Node system or Partition, a Partner with Manager or higher Permission level is able to create Rules for the Group which then apply to all members of the Group. By using a Group rule, the Partner does not need to individually create Rules for each Person in the Group. This also allows any changes to Group Rules to apply to all members of the Group, such as changing access schedules, door/device access, holiday schedules, and more. A Person can be assigned to one or more groups, such as a manager who needs access to the same doors/devices as their employees but also shares access to restricted areas of a site with other People.
Adding People to a Group
Tap/click the + icon next to the Groups option to begin.
Then tap/click to place checkmarks next to the Group or Groups the Person will be a member of and then click Select. This will save the change to the Person.
NOTE: Using Groups and Group Rules is essential for an efficient access control system. It is highly recommended to create multiple Groups with different Access Rules and to assign each Person on the Cloud Node system or Partition to one or more of these Groups.
For example, all members of a department can be granted the same access rights to a specific area of a building during specific times of the day by using a single Group and associated Access Rules.
Also, common Group examples with associated Access Rules are: Employee 9-5, Employee Extended Hours, IT Dept, Tech Support, Limited Access, Unlimited Access, Maintenance Dept, Accounting, Engineers, After Hours, and so on.
