What's New or Changed in the PDK.io UI
The following items are new or improved in this release.
Controller Replacement
If a Controller needs to be replaced, you can transfer all its settings, rules, and connected device configurations to a replacement unit through the Discovery tab. This seamlessly replaces the old controller, eliminating the need to manually reconfigure or reassign individual devices.
In addition to simplifying the service experience, the Controller Replacement feature lets you increase the number of doors on a customer system by keeping the ports, door names, device configuration, and more on an R1 (or R2) and moving existing doors to an R4 controller.
See more details, including how to use this feature, in the Controller Replacement article on the Knowledge Base.
Authentication Rules: Best Practice Info added to Device Configuration
PDK recommends applying Authentication Rules at the Group level for maximum flexibility and to prevent access conflicts caused by rules created by Admins. The software interface has been updated to reinforce this in the Device Configuration screen by moving Authentication Policy into an Advanced section at the bottom of the configuration page.
Industry List Updated: Sorted Alphabetically & Test or Demo System Added
The Industry picklist in the System Settings view, required for new Customer creation, is updated by alphabetizing the list to make it easier to find the appropriate industry classification. After reviewing partner use of the Other field, we determined we needed to add a new category, "Test or Demo System," as an option.
