The first step in installing the ProdataKey/Digital Watchdog NVR Integration Tool is ensuring that NodeJS is installed on the host server. If the Linux server was built by DW, please contact either DW support or ProdataKey support for assistance in installing NodeJS and the ProdataKey/Digital Watchdog NVR Integration Tool. If the server where the DW software is installed was not initially set up by DW, follow the instructions below.
First login to the DW server as either 'Root' or 'Admin'. Click on 'Application', then click/hover over 'Settings', then click 'Software & Updates'. Place a checkmark next to the following items on the Ubuntu Software tab:
- Canonical-supported and open-source software (main)
- Community-maintained free and open-source software (universe)
- Proprietary drivers for devices (restricted)
- Software restricted by copyright or legal issues (multiverse)
This is shown in the image below.
Click the Updates tab and place a checkmark next to the following items and then click 'Close'.
- Important security updates
- Recommended updates
- Unsupported updates
This is shown in the image below.
In a command line window, enter the following items one at a time, hitting Enter between each and waiting for the command to finish before entering the next item.
sudo apt update -y
sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install nodejs -y
Then execute the file download from the main overview page.
