What is a 'Link Rule' Event?
A 'Link Rule' Event is a Group or Person Event Rule where an allowed Credential (Physical or Mobile app) is processed and then performs an action on another Device on the Customer Account.
When is a 'Link Rule' Event needed
A 'Link Rule' Event is needed when a credential input is required to cause a second action, in addition to activating the device/door. Below are examples of how a 'Link Rule' Event can be used for many more potential actions, but are not limited to just these examples.
- Activating a Generic IO Device on the customer account.
- Disarming an alarm system
- Activating a light or siren
How to configure a 'Link Rule' Event
Setting up a 'Link Rule' is easily done.
- Go into the Group or Person to which the Rule needs to be added.
- Click the Plus in the bottom right corner
- Click on the 'Event' tab at the top and then configure the Event rule to use the Trigger 'When Allowed', the Action required, the Source and Target Devices, and the Dwell time required.
The 'Link Rule' Event is not working as expected...
There can be a number of reasons why a 'Link Rule' Event is not functioning as expected.
- The 'Link Rule' Event was configured as a 'System Event' rule.
- The 'Link Rule' Event was created in the incorrect Group or Person.
- The incorrect 'Trigger' or 'Action' was selected for the 'Link Rule' Event.
- The incorrect 'Source Device' or 'Target Device' was selected for the 'Link Rule' Event.
