What is a 'Forced Alarm' event and why did it occur on my system?
A 'Forced Alarm' event is a system event that occurs when a door with both an enabled REX and DPS is opened without an allowed card scan or REX event occurring to unlock the door. Potential causes for a Forced Alarm to occur are:
- A door being forced open, such as a site being broken into.
- A door not being secured properly and moving enough for the DPS to 'detect' the door being opened,
- A REX device that is not reporting to the PDK system.
So a 'Forced Alarm' event occurred on my system, how can I be notified?
Prior to the Forced Alarm event occurring, a System Event rule can be configured to take a number of actions when a Forced Alarm event occurs, Please refer to System Events for more details about setting up the System Event. Once a Forced Alarm event has occurred, the System Event will be processed, the event logged by the system, and an icon will be placed next to the Forced Door in the States window.
How do I resolve a 'Forced Alarm' event on my system and remove the alert in the States window?
After a Forced Alarm event occurs, the only actions that need to be taken are:
- Determine the cause of the Forced Alarm and resolve the physical cause of the issue
- Clear the Forced Alarm indicator in the States window by clicking on the alert and then clicking 'Clear Alarm'.
