What is a 'Propped Alarm' Event?
A 'Propped Alarm' event occurs when a door/device with a configured DPS and Prop Alarm has been open (no continuity through the DPS) longer than the time set for the Prop Alarm. Enabling the DPS and configuring the Prop Alarm is done in the Device configuration window.
Why did a 'Propped Alarm' event occur on my system?
As stated above, a 'Propped Alarm' occurs on a door/device when a configured DPS and Prop Alarm has been open longer than the Prop Alarm setting.
The following items are potential causes for a 'Prop Alarm' event to occur:
- Door issues: The door could be propped/held open or not secure enough, so that the DPS considers the door/device to be open.
- Unused DPS inputs: If a Device without a DPS is incorrectly configured with an enabled DPS and Prop Alarm setting in the Configuration, a Prop Alarm will occur.
- DPS wiring/hardware issues: If the wiring to the DPS has a fault, the DPS sensor is faulty, or the DPS is misaligned, this can cause a Prop Alarm event to occur.
How do I resolve a 'Propped Alarm' event on my system?
- Fix door issues: Fix any issues with a door not shutting all the way. Close the door; remove anything keeping the door open unexpectedly.
- Disable unused DPS inputs: If a Door does not have a DPS installed, disable the DPS input for that door in PDK.io.
- Fix DPS wiring/hardware issues: Confirm the wiring to the DPS device at the door. Confirm that the DPS functions and is aligned properly.
