What is an 'Overcurrent' event?
An Overcurrent event occurs when a device connected to a Controller draws too much voltage from the Controller. There are a number of possible causes for this to have occurred.
- Too much amperage drawn: If the hardware being powered by the board requires more amperage than the Controller can provide, this will result in an overcurrent event.
- Diode reversed or blown: If the diode required with a Strike installation is reversed or blown (from a significant feedback spike), this will result in a short through the Strike and an overcurrent event.
- Lock Hardware Wiring: If the Maglock or Strike wiring is reversed, an overcurrent event will occur.
- Short to ground: If there is a short to ground in the wiring to the lock hardware, an overcurrent event will occur.

- Diode reversed: Test the diode and replace the diode if blown, ensuring the installation orientation.
- Lock Hardware Wiring: Confirm the lock hardware wiring polarity.
- Short to ground: Replace the shorted wiring.
